This item includes PCB with 1-3 pcs LT3045 and 1-3 pcs LT3094 ultralow noise regulator in parallel on each rail to achieve upto 0.46uV low noise performance. Paralleling multiple LT30xx reduces noise by √N for N parallel regulators, for 1x is 0.8uV, 2x is 0.56uV, 3x is 0.46uV noise.

This regulator PCB is equipped with high quality Murata hybrid choke coil and CRC input filter to remove the common mode noise and differential mode noise from the input and provide the best sound result from time to time.
It is always a mystery for most people why the same DAC usually sound better at night. The reason is the noise pollution through the AC line from all the other equipment in the same room. In the day time, More electronic equipment turn on and there are more pollution.
Feature:
1)Analog Devices ultralow noise 1-3 pcs LT3045 and 1-3 pcs LT3094 regulator in parallel.
2)Input overvoltage protection and primary regulation with extra zener transistor circuit. LT3045 and LT3094 specification has maximum 20V input limit, it will burnt easily if it is connected directly to an AC transformer with AC15V output or higher. Many people may not notes the output voltage from an AC transformer changes continuously with the loading current. The no load DC voltage after rectifier from an AC transformer with rated AC15V output may over 20V DC, depends on different manufacturer.
3)Panasonic EEUFC low ESR 5600uF capacitor and WIMA film capacitor are sourced from authorized distributor Arrow Electronics directly (guarantee no fake product from China)
4) 18 thermal via are placed directly under the chip for maximum thermal transfer to the large copper area. High quality adhesive thermal transfer tape are used for maximum thermal path to the heatsink.
5)Fixed value thin film resistor is used to set the output voltage, it is more solid stable against vibration and temperture change than thick film resistor(much cheaper) or variable resistor used commonly in the market.
6)Preallocated soldering pad for advance diyer to add extra LT3045 LT3094 and output voltage setting resistor, it can increase the current output and further reduce the noise(which is already the lowest in the market)
7)Please notes 1A(2A)*2 is the burst value, please read the bottom notes for output usage larger than 0.5A continuously, additional voltage set resistor must also be added if six LT3045 is installed.
8)The PCB follows the official demo circuit for ultimate performance.

Assembly Instruction:
1) Double check the polarity of the 5600uF capacitor is correct before connect AC power input to the PCB, the capacitor will explode immediately if it is reversed connected. No return is accepted after the pcb is soldered.
2) Attention: Don't remove the voltage switch jumper when the pcb is using. The output voltage can jump to 15V when the jumper is removed and it may causes damage to the load if it is using 9V.
3) Please note this is a bipolar power regulator pcb, the two AC input cannot be parallel and use the same AC. Transformer with two separated secondary is recommended. Normally, the input voltage should be 2v higher than the output voltage, if the output is +-12v, the input AC voltage should be about 14V-15V.
Notes for advance user:
For linear regulator, all unused voltage is converted to heat, if the PCB is used for output larger than 0.5A current continuously, depends on the room temperture and the input voltage, larger heatsink and fan is needed. The same usage method is applied to all linear regulator in the market. The operating temperature should always keep below the rated maximum operating temperature as listed in the manufacturer official datasheet.
The murata EMI filter used in the PCB is rated 2A at 60degrees celsius from the manufacturer. The filter can actually deliver larger than 2A if it can keep below 60degree. The PCB can also delivery larger than 1A if the temperature can keep low. User can bypass the emi filter easily by a wire short it's input and output soldering pad.
This PCB is designed to not have output current limit protection for better output burst/transient response. Our stress test shows that LT3094 will burnt immediately if the different of output to input voltage is higher than 7V at total output current 0.8A for two chip parallel version. We would suggest for long term usage, keep the out-to-in voltage different between 3V-5V(for 12V DC out, use 15V AC transanformer, the full bridge SBR diode rectifier and zener has around 2V voltage drop). Use 18V AC transformer for 9V DC output can burnt LT3094 easily.
LT3045 is more tough on high output to input voltage different, it do not burnt during our stress test.
If the operating temperature is too high, user should bypass or replace the EMI filter with lower inductance in the series which generate less heat but the drawback is less noise filtered. Active cooling fan can also be used.
